Articulate graduates with excellent presentation skills are required to teach English in Suzhou. Applications are welcomed from graduates or final year students from any degree subject background, and a TEFL certification can be completed subsequent to application. No prior formal teaching experience is required, however successful candidates will demonstrate excellent presentation and communication skills, a patient and friendly attitude, as well as a passion for helping children to learn English. The China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, abbreviated as SIP, is a county‐level administrative area located in Suzhou, China, with significant Singaporean influence. The park is best known among the locals as “Yang (Foreign) Suzhou” – home to majority of Suzhou’s expatriates and the base for Fortune 500 giants such as Samsung, UPS and Motorola. There are some 25,000 companies, of which 91 are Fortune 500 firms. The area’s Foreign Teacher Into Campus Project is managed by the local Education Bureau, engaged to design and provide a platform to facilitate cultural exchanges between China and the rest of world. Teachers are trained in the curriculum, and the Education Bureau is building an online sharing platform, including a QQ Discussion Group, and online shared space to help foreign teachers upload and download lesson plans, discuss questions and share teaching ideas. The project has positions available in Primary, Middle and Junior High public schools. Duties: - Delivering well planned lessons based on the provided curriculum - Encourage students to practice their spoken English - Provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work - Facilitate learning and build students’ confidence - Use a variety of materials and teaching techniques to enhance student learning, and engage student interest - Perform general administrative functions - Ensure that students are safe and monitored - Involvement in curriculum development - Attend and participate in staff department meetings, workshops, curriculum planning and special events A work visa will be provided by the school. Candidate Requirements Knowledge of Mandarin is not required, however teachers will need to demonstrate a strong interest in the country and its culture. Experience of working in China is hugely in demand in the workplace; as well as the language, teachers develop a cultural understanding of the country. · Native English speaker, due to work (z) visa regulations · Hold an undergraduate degree in any subject discipline · Hold, or be willing to complete a TEFL/ TESOL Certificate, which can be completed subsequent to application · Some prior teaching, training or presentation experience is preferred
